I have been a consultant, a poet, a football player, a therapist, a writer but it wasn’t until I began painting in 1995 that I saw the light. I saw something inspiring that I wanted to record and tried to write a story about it but it was just too visual, so I went to the garage, got some plywood and house paint and began painting. I fell into a kind of trance (flow) and when I came to I had eight paintings. I took them to Elayne Scott at the Red Piano and she was very encouraging. I have been painting every since.
I see my work as whimsical, and off beat. I have a child’s vocabulary (in terms of painting) but am trying to convey a more sophisticated image. The effect comes out looking comical which is fine with me.
